2025 Washington, D.C., Legal Intern Selected

Girl with US flag at The Capitol

We are thrilled to announce our 2025 Pauline Cohen Legal Summer Intern!

The Levin Center annually provides stipends for Wayne Law students to spend the summer working as legal interns on Capitol Hill, experiencing first-hand a bipartisan approach to congressional oversight. The selected Wayne Law students work under the supervision of an experienced attorney who is engaged in conducting oversight on behalf of a House or Senate committee. The students are able to observe the practice of congressional oversight from the inside gaining valuable experience in the heart of Congress.

Meet our 2025 Intern

Aleksandra Thomas is a first-year J.D. candidate at Wayne State University Law School with a strong background in public interest research and advocacy. She graduated summa cum laude from the University of Michigan with a degree in Sociology and a concentration in Law, Justice, and Social Change. Prior to law school, Aleksandra served as an AmeriCorps Student Support Advisor and contributed to criminal legal aid efforts, including support for women seeking clemency and analysis of federal reports for immigration and criminal defense cases.

Her award-winning research has focused on environmental justice and public health inequities. This summer, Aleksandra will serve as a Legal Intern with the Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs (HSGAC), working under Ranking Member Senator Gary Peters (D-MI). Aleksandra Thomas has been named our 2025 Pauline Cohen Intern.

We can’t wait for Aleksandra to start this incredible experience soon and to support her throughout the internship!
